Argentina

In July of 2025, I visited my Aunt Liliana and Uncle Neil in Buenos Aires, Argentina for the first time. It was an amazing trip filled with exploring, art-making, and family time. Throughout the two weeks, I documented my day-to-day with film and camcorder clips. After returning to Canada, I made silver gelatin prints and edited a short film. The culmination of that project is presented here.

Throughout August, I spent hours printing silver gelatin. In between darkroom sessions, I edited directly from camcorder onto a VHS tape. This part of the process was reflective and experimental. I found a way to put together the pieces of my experience in Argentina.

On September 20th, I invited family and friends to my home to experience the works. Three installations were displayed.

Through the Looking Glass

Short Film on VHS, 9:08 minutes, 2025

Like Alice, I fell through the looking glass. At times I felt confused, but pushed through anyway. I met some new people, and came out the other side. I left with more clarity.
Through the Looking Glass documents vignettes from my explorations of Buenos Aires in summer 2025.

A Step in the Right Direction

Silver gelatin prints, 2025

These photographs document my journey to visit my aunt and uncle. A Step in the Right Direction represents my efforts to reconnect with the paternal side of my family. Moving closer together, instead of further apart.

Four Sides

Silver gelatin prints, 2025. Jennifer, Balcony I, Balcony II, and Nahuel.

Four Sides of a deconstructed shape — a cube or maybe a chunk. Showing the different facets of one’s traveling experience.

  1. Seeing oneself, through another’s eyes.

  2. Finding comfort in a home away from home.

  3. Meeting a new friend in the process.
